With the varied nature of the work that we do, we see a range of people in the community in different group sizes, ages and walks of life, and in many different settings and environments. The majority of the time when we go to venues, schools and businesses there will be a qualified and designated first aider on hand, however, we are often the first people on hand when teaching in the classroom, performing in a club or running a workshop in a field at a community festival. Knowing the basics of first aid can genuinely make the difference between serious injury or even life and death with some training in how to follow the basic steps and measures. This is why Drumroots feel it is important to have a first aider in our team and now has a HSE approved certified first aider as well as first aid kit with us on our jobs.
Last week I completed a three day training course and gained a HSE approved ‘First Aid at Work’ certificate. The course I attended was run by First Aid Central Training Services in Stockport. The trainer who led the course was the energetic and charismatic, and held the attention of the attendees with a wealth of knowledge and real life first aid experience. To become a certified first aider for your organisation, get in touch with First Aid Central Training Services and book yourself or a team of colleagues onto one of their regular courses.
