Tanante back from African Drum Village Festival

We’re back from African Drum Village. I think all that attended know how tricky the weather conditions were but people’s spirits were bright as ever to make this special festival fun and memorable…

This year we were invited to teach a few workshops; Under 16’s, Women’s only and ‘Soloing for the terrified’. All the workshops went really well and we enjoyed them as much as the participants seemed to. Especially the Women’s workshop, ran by our Joanna and Constance, that culminated in a signing, drumming and soloing performance, well done the girls!

On the Wednesday night Tananate Performed with our good friend Iya Sako, and Joined for a special dance demonstration by Idrissa Camara of Ballet Nimba and Awa Goudiaby. Furthermore, this was the first time we’ve performed with friends Manrtin and Constance who played amazingly well.
With what seemed to be half the festival, eventually camped in the shared big hall taking refuge from flooded tents, I think most people were ready to leave the Scottish Glens and head out looking forward to next time.

Big thanks to Steve Hayden, Afrodisiac and all of the crew who made it happen.
