Tanante perform for Nando’s christmas party at the Birdcage

Tanante were recently invited to perform at the birdcage in Manchester city centre for the Nando’s Christmas party. The famous chicken restaurant chain Nando’s held its staff Christmas party at the Birdcage venue in Manchester city centre. Nando’s employees from all over the North West enjoyed an African safari themed fancy dress party with stilt walkers, African acrobats and of course the West African drumming sounds of our very own band Tanante
It was our job to welcome the party goers in the foyer and entertain them as they queued to get in. We then made our way to stage and performed a high energy drumming set. Joining us for this occasion was our dear friend Iya Sako, a Guinean djembe player of the highest calibre. Iya, who often plays with Tanante, never fails to make an impression and this was no exception.
The Birdcage venue which is famous for its Vegas style shows featuring flamboyant drag artists, elegant showgirls and sexy dancers was transformed for one night into an African jungle. Most of the guests arrived in costume as some kind of African animal.
After our drumming performance we stayed to watch the amazing stilt walkers from Gravity Live and the incredible African acrobats the Black Eagles.
A big thanks to all the drummers of Tanante, especially Iya Sako and to the Gravity Live guys for organising the event.
