Our recent journey to Italy was nothing short of magical, thanks to the incredible efforts of Luca Laudani and Inbar Abrami from RitMovimento. From the moment we arrived at the stunning Eco lodge about an hour from Rome, we knew we were in for an extraordinary experience.
Over three immersive days, we dove deep into the captivating world of Malian djembe drumming, guided by the extraordinary master drummer and musician Petit Adama Diarra. Each workshop truly tested our abilities, pushing us to embrace new rhythms and techniques. Petit Adama’s passion and expertise filled the air with infectious energy, encouraging participants of all skill levels to connect with the drums and with each other.
One of the highlights was the opportunity to jam on drums alongside traditional Italian folk music. The fusion of African rhythms with Italian melodies created a unique and exhilarating atmosphere. We found ourselves dancing freely, swept up in the joy of music that transcended borders. The sounds of joyful singing and lively dancing filled the air, reminding us of the universal language of music that brings people together, no matter where they come from.
The culinary experience was equally remarkable, traditional Italian cuisine featuring organic ingredients grown right at the lodge. Enjoying fresh, locally sourced meals added depth to our gatherings, fostering connections over delicious food.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Luca and Inbar for their dedicated efforts in orchestrating such a fantastic event. Their commitment to fostering cultural exchange was evident in every detail. A profound thank you also goes to Petit Adama for infusing the gathering with such remarkable positive energy. His ability to inspire and uplift made this experience truly special.
Exciting news for those who want to continue this journey: Luca and Inbar will be running more drumming experiences! For more information, check out their Facebook page at rit.movimento.
As we reflect on our time in Italy, we are filled with gratitude for the connections we made and the lessons we learned. This experience has left us with lasting memories and a renewed appreciation for the beauty of cultural exchange through music, dance, and community. We can’t wait for our next adventure!
