Last night Tanante had the incredible honour of performing at Old Trafford Cricket Ground for the England vs South Africa T20 clash. What a setting, what a crowd, and what a match!
The atmosphere was electric from the very start. With thousands of cricket fans filling the stands, we brought the sounds of West Africa to the heart of Manchester, filling the ground with the energy of live African drumming. Our rhythms echoed around Old Trafford, building excitement and creating a real buzz amongst the crowd as everyone got into the spirit of the game.
We were especially proud to be joined by master drummer Iya Sako, whose skill, power, and charisma brought an extra spark to the performance. Together, Tanante delivered high-energy rhythms that had fans clapping, dancing in their seats, and fully immersed in the experience. It was amazing to see so many people of all ages joining in with the beat and letting the music carry them.
And what a game it turned out to be! England stormed to victory, beating South Africa by an incredible 146 runs. The energy from the crowd was infectious, and our drumming helped to add another layer of celebration to a truly memorable evening.
Performing in such an iconic venue, in front of such a huge audience, was a real privilege for Tanante. Blending the excitement of international sport with the spirit of African drumming is exactly the kind of unique experience we love to bring to events – creating connection, joy, and unforgettable memories.
A massive thank you to everyone who cheered, clapped, and joined in with us, and of course to Iya Sako for making it such a special night. This was one to remember, and we’re already looking forward to the next!
